Everyone’s gone Capoeira crazy!

There aren’t many things in this world that can raise the spirits and enthusiasm of a bored group of 11 year olds…but Professor Rodrigo managed to do just that!

Of the many activities that took place during the Kidbrooke Arts Festival, none brought a group together like the capoeira session. All boys and girls, without exception, (and with some gentle persuasion from the instructor!) were up and involved. At the start of the session, they were tentatively practising side steps and stances; by the end, the students were producing spinning-kicks and cartwheels like pros!

Professor Rodrigo started capoeira 18 years ago in Brazil; he has been a part of the Kidbrooke Arts Festival now for four years still holds his passion in teaching capoeira to the kids of Kidbrooke School.

Luckily, the kids shared his vivacity for the art of capoeira too!

‘I hadn’t ever heard of capoeira before this- it’s really fun and it would be cool to carry it on.’
